How to Pack for a Move

  • Make a list of everything that needs to packed for the big move. Every item that needs to be packed will need a specific size and material for instance: Boxes, Cartons, Bubble wrap, Newspapers(to prevent damage), Scissors, Labelling stickers, Pens for marking and of course Tape.
  • When packing your items, make sure you use enough newspaper or packaging paper to wrap them and prevent any damage or breakage from taking place.
  • It is very useful to categorize your items and pack them accordingly. Examples of this would be to pack all your clothes together with no sharp items that can hurt anyone, also pack your gardening items together as well as all your cooking items together.
  • Mark and label all your packaging according to their content inside. This will make things a lot easier for you when unpacking. Make sure that you mark all packaging with sharp items or items that can hurt anyone.
  • Make sure to pack the items you will be needing first together in one box and label it accordingly. This will be very helpful when you start unpacking.
  • A very useful tip is to mark your packaging according to each family member. This will make it easier when unpacking and you will also know instantly in which room to place and unpack the items.
  • Make a list of all the things that needs to be done before moving. This will help you keep track of your progress and you can also tick of what is done and what still needs to be done.
  • Remember to go through the house and each room to make sure that everything is packed.
